Ask Brad Pitt what he loves so much about New Orleans, and sooner or later the conversation will turn to shrimp po-boys.
“We used to eat a lot at the Verti Marte,” Pitt tells the Times-Picayune. “A little bitty market with great shrimp po-boys that I couldn’t get enough of. It recently had a fire problem. But after that, we like Irene’s a lot. Antoine’s and the Windsor Court. There are so many. But in general, shrimp po-boys. I order them everywhere.”
But Pitt, 46, is drawn to the Big Easy for reasons that go well beyond the culinary delights. The actor has been involved in rebuilding the city ever since Hurricane Katrina struck five years ago. Today, he feels a kinship that extends to the people, the music and, yes, the world-champion football team.
“In New Orleans, the people are great,” he says. “We can just live and breathe and ride bikes. We can take our kids on bike rides, and local people just give us a shout-out – and let us move on. … Everybody treats us like neighbors.”
And the music, Pitt says, is transcendental. “Truthfully, my favorite sound in the entire world is opening up the balcony doors in the French Quarter and hearing four different sounds playing at once from the apartments across the way or down the street,” he says. “It’s a balmy night, twilight, and I’m drinking a beer, and this feeling just falls over me, of contentment. It gives me goosebumps to talk about it.”
Things are about to get even more exciting in town, too, as football season starts, with the New Orleans Saints defending their Super Bowl championship. “Man, I’m looking forward to the season,” Pitt says. “I cannot wait, cannot wait. I cannot wait for Game 1 against Brett Favre [of the Minnesota Vikings] – I can’t wait.”

BRAD Pitt is planning to make a movie version of video game hit Red Dead Redemption.
Sources say the Hollywood heartthrob is the hot favorite to play renegade outlaw John Marston in an epic cowboy shoot-em-up based on the PlayStation game.
“This is an exciting project with a great character at the center of it,” a source said.
“The idea is to make this in the style of an epic Western movie but with a few modern touches.
“Brad is perfect for the role and he is being given first refusal.”

The parent company behind Britain’s News of the World will pay an undisclosed sum to settle a lawsuit against the newspaper by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie that claimed the two were legally separating and had negotiated custody arrangements.
On Thursday, the couple’s lawyer said in London’s High Court that Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers accepted that its published allegations were “false and intrusive,” reports the BBC.
In January, when the suit was filed, the couple’s attorney, Keith Schilling, stated: “We can confirm unequivocally … that the allegations published by the News of the World are false as well as intrusive.”
Among the evidence in the case was a statement from the divorce lawyer reputedly cited in the original story. “I have never met. … your clients or had any involvement with either of them. The foregoing is true with respect to all other members of this firm,” said his statement.
Pitt and Jolie, who this week were attending premieres for her new movie Salt, did not appear in court. Their attorney said News of the World would publish an apology and pick up Pitt and Jolie’s legal costs and pay damages, which the couple intend to donate to their charitable Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

“World War Z” isn’t the only zombie story from author Max Brooks headed for the big screen — both “The Zombie Survival Guide” and “The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks” graphic novel have also been optioned for adaptation.
While chatting up Brooks at the Avatar Press booth, the writer confirmed to MTV News that the adaption of his novel about the zombie apocalypse is not only moving forward, but Brad Pitt is now officially attached to star in the film. Additionally, Brooks revealed that Paramount has optioned the movie rights to “Zombie Survival Guide” and “Recorded Attacks.”
Yes, Comic-Con is barely underway in San Diego and we already have some big news from the show floor!
Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment first secured the rights to “World War Z” back in 2007 after a bidding war with Leonardo DiCaprio’s company, Appian Way. The actor has long been rumored as a potential lead for the film, but Brooks received the call confirming Pitt’s attachment (and the other “Survival Guide” deals) while signing copies of the books at the Avatar booth tonight (Wednesday, July 21) during Preview Night at Comic-Con.
“I can’t believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been,” said Brooks.

Brad Pitt and Darren Aronofsky are working on new adventure thriller ‘The Tiger’.
The movie – based on a non-fiction book yet to be released by John Vaillant – has been optioned by Focus Features, with Brad potentially taking a leading role.
The story – which is being scripted by Guillermo Arriaga – tells the tale of human developers in Siberia who are tracked and hunted by an “almost” supernaturally-powerful tiger, Variety reports.
Guillermo said: “This is the first time I have adapted a screenplay, since I have previously only written original screenplays.
“I chose to adapt this story, first, because I have a profound love for the outdoors and the intense tension between man and nature which the book reflects; and, second, because of the great privilege of working with such accomplished filmmakers as Darren Aronofsky, Brad Pitt, and James Schamus.”
Guillermo and Brad previously worked together on drama movie ‘Babel’ and both dropped out of ‘The Fighter’ – which now stars Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg.
The novel ‘The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival’ is due for publication in August.

Emmys and Oscars, move over: Today’s celebs are raking in the Internet accolades as well. Brad Pitt and Jim Carrey lead a veritable who’s who of Hollywood favorites at this year’s Webby Awards, hosted by B.J. Novak of NBC’s The Office.

That much-discussed beard on Brad Pitt’s superstar chin has now surpassed the excuse of novelty. And it’s not even there for a role.
Now the actor has given his reason for the straggly facial fluff: He can’t be bothered to change it. “It’s boredom. No other reason than that,” he told Britain’s Sun while chatting in the London kitchen of supermodel Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn – the director and Pitt’s fellow producer on the upcoming movie Kick-Ass.
Sipping Guinness stout and smoking a cigarette, Pitt, 46, added that he has been getting into Brit rapper Dizzee Rascal, another guest at the Kick-Ass after-party. (The movie opens in the U.S. April 16.)
“That guy has got it,” he said of Dizzee Rascal. “The kids are really into his stuff. I have worked out to that song ‘Bonkers.’ ”
Pitt, who is a longtime collaborator with Vaughn (they worked together on the movie Snatch), also spoke about how he once nearly got into a scrape over a woman during a visit to Scotland.
“When I was in Glasgow I got involved with this girl. She happened to be the ex-girlfriend of a bit of a bad guy. I ended up having to get out of town because I was getting ‘that’ look from a guy behind a bar,” said Pitt. “It was heavy.”
The leading man, currently staying in Venice while partner Angelina Jolie is shooting her new movie The Tourist, has since been up to Scotland again, this time with more peaceful results – to scout movie locations with his friend Vaughn.

Just call them the Fab Four!
Back from a London film premiere, Brad Pitt soaked up the sun in Venice, Italy on Tuesday. The star chilled on the private balcony of the sumptuous 15th century palazzo that he and Angelina Jolie are renting while she films The Tourist in the ancient city.
Pitt, 46, was joined by three V.I.P.s on the sun-filled balcony: a smiling Jolie, 34 (in shades and a tank top), and their 20-month-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
And it looks like spring has sprung in Italy, too, as Vivienne and Knox went without the knit caps they’ve been wearing since their arrival in Venice last month.
As they grow older, the blond, blue-eyed twins — the youngest kids among six — look more and more like their big sis Shiloh, 3.
Over the weekend, Shiloh turned heads when she was seen brandishing a toy gun holster while boarding a water taxi.
“She’s reserved,” a Jolie-Pitt source tells Us Weekly of the little girl, who goes by the appropriate nickname “Shi.” (Shiloh’s best friend is older sister Zahara, 5.) As the famous kids enjoy their Venetian home over the next couple months, a private tutor is on call for spur-of-the-moment museum trips. The gang of eight recently stopped by a local beach to pick up seashells, a source tells Us.
At Monday’s red carpet premiere in London for the movie Kick-Ass (he’s a producer), Pitt gushed to UsMagazine.com that his family’s stay Venice has been “lovely!”
